Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I've got a digitized version of the original CD. I played it through a Chord Quest DAC and compared it to this vinyl release, and it holds its own. I've read some people saying it sounds muddy and that Robert Smith must be losing his hearing. The highs are a touch more tamed than the digital original, which isn't too shocking. All in all, I'm pleased with it, but I can't say how it stacks up to the original pressing. If you're looking to get this on vinyl, I'd say it's worth picking up unless you're willing to drop $250 for the original pressing.
I haven't even taken it out of the packaging and I'm already unhappy with what I'm seeing: it's pressed at GZ Media (labeled "Made in Czech Republic") - the print quality of the sleeve is poor, it's clearly been scanned and resized - the original print with its matte and glossy finish on specific parts hasn't been replicated - the paper quality of both the jacket and the extra litho print is flimsy and cheap. Fortunately, I also have the original pressing. Really let down by the appearance and feel of this reissue. It's probably going to stay sealed in my collection.
I can't believe people are whining about the price of this record at their record store! It's insane that it was worth so much, wow. My record store had it for $35 US Dollars, my goodness!!
I usually steer clear of picture discs, but this one was an exception thanks to the glowing reviews. It sounds absolutely incredible with minimal clicks. However, there's a noticeable groove noise, typical of picture discs, which is quite loud. Given that the music is louder, the noise isn't too distracting, but it's still a loud roaring sound that can be heard during quieter parts. Despite this, I'm really happy with my purchase because it looks amazing and the sound quality is top-notch.
Wasn't ever a huge picture disc enthusiast, but I've been on the lookout for this reissue for ages. Really amazed at how fantastic this remaster sounds. Kudos to RS. It's absolutely PHENOMENAL. There's a few minor crackles and pops on the vinyl, but it's barely noticeable. For a picture disc, the artwork implementation is pretty awesome. Snag a copy. You won't be let down.
