Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I must say, the packaging is shockingly careless. I'm at a loss as to why they opted for a basic 2LP sleeve to stuff 4 LP's into. And did anyone else spot that tiny sticker claiming "36 tracks on 2 CD's"? LOL, they enlarged the sticker for the vinyl version, but couldn't be bothered to update the text to mention 4 LP's. That aside, I'm lucky that my copy didn't warp too much. And the sound quality is truly exceptional. Like, seriously exceptional. Really happy with that aspect.
Just as many have mentioned before, the vinyls are top-notch - crisp, loud, and full of energy. However, the packaging is quite disappointing for an album of this caliber - it's flimsy and feels rather cheap. I'm thrilled with it for now, but I'm really hoping TR eventually gives this the Definitive Edition treatment (though do Year Zero first, please, Trent...)
Trent Reznor's knack for perfection shines through in this album, as I'd hoped. The audio quality is top-notch, with barely any background noise to speak of. Four discs packed with Nine Inch Nails' stellar instrumental tracksβit's a one-of-a-kind experience, perfect for those long, dark nights. I swapped out the original sleeves for super-thin, antistatic ones to better fit the album cover and prevent any rubbing. But I kept the silly paper sleeves too. It's great that newer NIN albums come with improved inner sleeves. I picked this up back in '08 and only pull it out for those special, intense listening sessions.
The volume is low but the sound quality is decent. My copy does have some warping on discs 3 and 4. Fortunately, this doesn't impact playback much, just a tiny skip on disc 3 and nothing on disc 4. The overall quality is alright, but this album really needs a new pressing.
Attempting to peel off the sticker from the corner...Biggest mistake ever! Now, my sleeve's top is ruined. Who came up with the brilliant idea to place the sticker on the sleeve instead of the foil?!
