Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I suppose he didn't intend to soften up as he got older. One of his meanest albums... simply incredible.
Based on Moz's official site, his new record label also acquired the rights to re-release Maladjusted, Southpaw Grammar, Ringleader of the Tormentors, and WPINOYB. I reckon a reissue is on the way. Keeping my fingers crossed!
After seven long years of silence, Morrissey makes a triumphant return with "Irish Blood, English Heart"! This album sets the story straight about Morrissey's infamous moment at the Madstock concert on August 8, 1992, where he waved a Union Jack flag in front of a skinhead portrait. Calling Morrissey a Nazi shows a clear lack of understanding of his entire body of work. He has always been the voice of the marginalized, the heart and soul of society's outcasts, and his recognition of their anger is a testament to his deep understanding of the human condition. Thankfully, that incident didn't silence him. The album opens with "America Is Not The World," where Morrissey acknowledges America for giving us the hamburger, but also points out that the president is never black, female, or gay. "I Have Forgiven Jesus" could be Morrissey making amends with the world, delivered with a passion that still gives me chills. It's not far from the beauty of "Everyday Is Like Sunday." "First Of The Gang To Die" and "I Like You" are two more Morrissey pop hits that any fan can't help but love, but it's on tracks like "The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores," "Come Back To Camden," and "All The Lazy Dykes" that Morrissey sets the record straight. "No, it's just one more lock-jawed pop-stars thicker than pig-shit / nothing to convey," he speaks up for music with honesty, meaning, and message. Is it really that hard? And to prove his comeback and superiority, Morrissey ends the album with "You Know I Couldn't Last." Oh, but he will last. When everything else is forgotten, Morrissey will still stand tall. This album is one of his finest works, and that's after seven years of silence! Wow, Morrissey, take a bow!
After seven long years of silence, Morrissey made a triumphant return, and he did so with a bang! "Irish Blood, English Heart" clears up the confusion surrounding Morrissey's supposed misstep at the Madstock concert on August 8, 1992, when he brandished a Union Jack in front of a skinhead portrait. Calling Morrissey a Nazi reveals nothing more than a lack of comprehension of his entire body of work. He has always been the voice and champion of society's outcasts, and acknowledging their anger only demonstrates his deep understanding of the human psyche. Thankfully, the incident didn't silence him. "America Is Not The World" kicks off the album, with Morrissey paying homage to America for the hamburger, but noting that the president is never black, female, or gay. "I Have Forgiven Jesus" could be Morrissey making amends with the world, delivered with a fervor that still gives me goosebumps. It's a beauty on par with "Everyday Is Like Sunday." "First Of The Gang To Die" and "I Like You" are two more Morrissey pop hits that any fan would write in their sleep, but it's on tracks like "The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores," "Come Back To Camden," and "All The Lazy Dykes" that Morrissey sets the record straight. "No, it's just one more lock-jawed pop-stars thicker than pig-shit / nothing to convey," Morrissey speaks up for music that has honesty, meaning, and a message. Is that too much to ask? And to prove his return and dominance, Morrissey closes the album with "You Know I Couldn't Last." Oh, you'll last. When all else is forgotten, Morrissey will still stand tall. And this album is one of his finest moments. And that's after seven years of silence! Wow. Morrissey, take a bow!
Paid £150 for it, which seems to be the standard price. It's a really good album.
