I just gave this album a spin and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the recording. Contrary to what others have said, it's not dull and missing bass like the 1993 version.
It lacks depth and fails to engage. Even a CD version sounds superior to this vinyl record.
Wow, this is fantastic. I haven't had the chance to listen to an original 1993 pressing, but this one definitely outshines the Hi Res FLACs and the CD version. The mastering is top-notch, creating a wonderful soundstage. The bass and drums are particularly impressive. I picked up mine second-hand in near mint condition, and the vinyl is super quiet. I'm puzzled by others complaining about noise; perhaps they just need to give their records a good clean! Unless you stumble upon a great deal on an original, I reckon most folks will really appreciate this pressing.
The audio quality is quite boring. It lacks energy and excitement. The volume is low and the sound is flat. The CD version has a much more full, warm, and rich audio quality.
Subdued pressing, nothing to complain about, but a totally disengaging mastering job. It's missing punch, space. The incredible drum work on this album got lost in a muddle of sounds. The cymbals vanish into the backdrop. There are plenty of Abbey Road remasters that ruin dynamics (like Avalon, Tori Amos, for instance), but this one might be the first record I'd rather stream than play on vinyl.
