I've got this album, but what happened to Madonna's Beautiful Scars?
In the past, I genuinely thought Madonna was evolving as an artist – and this observation isn't about her age. For a long time, she maintained a consistent artistic pace, with varying degrees of success but always at a personally satisfying level as an entertainer. Naturally, no one is flawless, and Madonna is no exception. The past 15 years of her career have been a painful echo of this reality – regardless of her relentless work ethic or her fans' defensiveness and/or admiration. At her best, Madonna still embodies the times in which she developed as an artist. She was fortunate to start in an era of modesty, with limited areas to explore and exploit. From flirtatious to explicit, Madonna never crossed into vulgarity – even at her boldest ("Erotica" and "Sex"), she maintained a touch of class. Each album had a unique twist; she wasn't predictable. With "Ray Of Light," she deservedly solidified her status. The sky seemed the limit. Then, time marched on. Unfortunately, not for the better. Regressing into a reinvented "teen" star, Madonna has been struggling to keep up with her contemporaries ever since. On her latest album, the "unapologetic bitch" theme feels more like a group of people mocking each other, sucking up for commercial gain. Perhaps Madonna is aware but indifferent, playing it safe, scoring a few points, and still controlling her part of the output. She knows she can't survive on her own in today's world of chart-topping pop trash, which has horribly influenced her music. She may have all the money, power, and success to collaborate with anyone, but anyone with ears can tell something went wrong after "Music" – the rot has spread too deep. Sure, there are occasional moments to halt the decline momentarily (in this album's case, "Living For Love"), but for a star who, despite her ambition and attention-seeking nature, once cared about delivering a decent pop record, the damage is done. With "Rebel Heart," it's hard not to feel like it's the ultimate sound of her artistic decay.
The one I got was a bit bent and definitely not 180g, but it sounds amazing! Plus, it's Madonna's best work in ages.
Despite the album's length of over 70 minutes, I found myself thoroughly engaged throughout, with not a single dull moment. It was an enjoyable listen. The vinyl pressing is top-notch, with the records being nearly flawless and playing smoothly without any distortion. The audio quality is superb, with a well-balanced bass and clear details. The cover is also impressive, featuring thick, high-quality paper and excellent printing. I'd definitely recommend it. Enjoy! Superb quality pressing, genuinely blown away by that record. Packaging a bit dodgy, vinyls are in a basic white inner sleeve and barely fit in the gatefold. Apart from that, I'm really happy with it.
