10/10, this vinyl is absolutely fantastic! The purple color is gorgeous, and it really captures the bowling vibe with all the extras it comes with. The music is awesome, though there are a few tracks on side A and D that could be better. But overall, I'd definitely recommend it.
What an amazing edition of this Black Keys album! Besides the discs having a very cool color, the pressing quality (Record Industry Holland) is top-notch, and we even get a bonus track! 19 tracks of pure ear bliss! Highly recommend it!
Translated automatically,I'm happy I waited before grabbing this 2LP black version. Finally gave it a full listen and it's truly amazing, both for enjoying the music and for collecting. The gatefold is fantastic with awesome artwork and lots of details, plus there's a booklet, poly-lined inners, flat records, and a massive, rich sound - it's got it all! Every track is a banger, no weak spots here.
Since “Brothers,” this is the top-notch Black Keys album. Packed with diversity, catchy tunes, and an all-around enjoyable experience. The Trophy Edition is a no-brainer, the extra songs are among the album's finest.
I wish there was more variety and less folk music and songs. I did enjoy a few tracks, but two of them should've been trimmed at 1m48 and 2m15. It's like they got tired midway and started messing around instead. Sometimes I wondered if this was more of a Beck song. "Please Me" feels quite old-fashioned in its core idea. Even the cover art follows the same vibe. If the title "Ohio Players" is a nod to the funk band, then the sound is a bit too funky in parts. 'Don't Let Me Go' is a case in point: it starts well and could've been great, but the chorus ruins it. Three stars with a "they used to be better" bonus. Can't actually see my reply no longer, so: Both 'Paper Crown' and 'Candy and Her Friends' were like odd mixes of a few songs thrown together without any control over the final result. Those were the 1m48/2m15 songs I mentioned earlier. I gave them my own spin: cut everything after a certain point and then used what's left to make a full-length song. The first one turned out 30 seconds longer and the other about the same length as the original. And the latter is perfect! This kept what's good, and the result is more like a complete groovy song, as it should've been from the start. A good producer is sometimes what's needed: if you're too close to the songs, you might benefit from someone looking at the whole mess from the outside, keeping their feet on the ground. They missed it and made a messy album.
