Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I had been eagerly looking forward to this album's release. Vola's previous vinyl albums have had a narrow dynamic range, making them sound flat and dull. Streaming the initial tracks of this 'live' album on Qobuz gave me hope for better dynamics, but sadly, the vinyl version is once again disappointing. The highs are present, but there's no low-end punch. It's a shame, yet again. I'm using a Roksan Radius turntable with a Phasemation PP-200 cartridge, an ifi iPhono 3 preamp, and an AMR integrated amp. My setup is quite detailed and has more than enough bass, thanks to my Klipsch RP-8000F speakers. Tesseract does a MUCH better job with their vinyl mastering. Perhaps Vola should try using their 4D studio for a change?
