The sound quality of this pressing is fantastic. It's awesome to finally have a 10" version of this amazing album.
Here's a rewritten version of the review that meets your requirements: "This here's the version with that locked groove at the tail end of Alpha/side 1. Can't say how it stacks up against the original, but this EU copy was tracked down to dodge the US pressing hiccups. It's hands-down the one to have. The backdrop's vast and inky, the soundstage's packed, and (cough) everything's right where it oughta be. Marantz 2226b, Pro-Ject X2 with upgrades, Sumiko Wellspring cart, Klipsch Heresy IV.
Both discs aren't flawlessly flat, but they're nicely centered. The mix is crisp and impactful, with excellent clarity and a broad soundstage. This one's mastered louder than my other Radiohead LPs. Nearly silent background. Solid pressing in my opinion. There's a bothersome static hum on the left channel during the final 30-40 seconds of the first track (appears to be a common problem with this pressing). Apart from that, I've got no issues. Incredible album. 4.75 / 5
These records, Anmesiac included, were presents way back when they first came out. They've always sounded fantastic. Though, they did have a fair bit of crackling, but after an ultrasonic clean, most of those pops have vanished. It's a gorgeous sounding record.
Optimal Media really delivered with this vinyl release! Both albums sound fantastic, and it's clear that this is one of those records that truly shines on vinyl. I'd absolutely recommend this pressing, the sound is just amazing!
