At last, nearly two decades later, it's out on vinyl! The sound quality is exactly what you'd anticipate from Daft Punk's recent releases—crisp highs, and it's flat and quiet on vinyl. If I were to nitpick, I'd say the bass could be a tad deeper. Out of all their remix albums, this one's my favorite, even though Human After All isn't my top pick among their main albums. There's some truly great stuff in here, like SebastiAn's remix, Erol Alkan's, or Para One's. Some of the other remixes don't quite hit the mark for me, though; I guess it's not easy to remix Daft Punk effectively. The hype sticker says it's a limited edition, but where does the mention of 3000 units come from? The original Japanese CD had some editions limited to 3000 units (TOCP-66530), which is the info you can find online on Wikipedia and such, but I don't see any mention of 3000 units for the vinyl anywhere.
Fans who weren't fond of Daft Club, cheer up: The Funk Is Here Again! This fresh remix album features some of the finest remixes by Soulwax, Vitalic, Digitalism, and even Justice! Robot Rock (Soulwax Remix) Dare I say it, this might even surpass the original? It's that good Human After All (Sebastian Remix) A solid remix, but it could've been even better Technologic (Peaches No Logic Remix) No Logic indeed, this is the weakest track on the album The Brainwasher (Erol Alkan's Horrorhouse Dub) Spooooooky indeed Prime Time Of Your Life (Para One Remix) Fantastic Remix, so good Daft Punk included it in their Live Show! Human After All (Guy-Man After All Justice Remix) Two amazing artists collide, one of the best remixes ever made! Technologic (Digitalism Remix) Not much to say, it's just a good remix Human After All (Alter Ego Remix) It's missing the original song: is it really a remix? Technologic (Vitalic Remix) Simply an amazing remix. Just what you'd hope for Robot Rock (Daft Punk Maximum Overdrive Mix) Insanely fast, a bit cheap but enjoyable nonetheless More highlights than Daft Club but still some low points Overall, it's an 8.5/10
In my opinion, this tops Daft Club, packed with mind-blowing tracks like remixes from Para One, Juan Mclean, and that amazing Robot Rock remix by the robots. Don't miss out on this reissue!
