I'm updating my earlier review from this week. I had my backup A/D converter hooked up while I waited for the replacement for the faulty one to show up. Funny thing is, my backup A/D converter seems to be lacking in the upper-mids more than I initially thought, which was causing me to miss out on some of those upper-mids. "Get your wings" is an old recording from before they became super famous. It's got that raw, gritty Hard Rock sound, and this reissue from a decade later really brings it to life. It's more vibrant than my CD and any of the times I've streamed it. The only thing I might complain about is that the kick-drum could be a bit fuller. But the snarling guitars, the hi-hats, and the punch of the snare all sound amazing, and I didn't find it lacking in energy at all. Earlier, I mentioned that I might look for a modern pressing to see how it sounds. I still might, but now it's more out of curiosity than necessity. I genuinely enjoyed this.
This version's a bit of a mixed bag. Certain tracks are fantastic, but others are quite murky.
All in all, it's pretty darn good. It's smooth and flat with hardly any noise. There were a few specks of debris that caused a skip but it played fine after a quick wet-clean. The remaster sounds decent but I wish there was a bit more clarity and punch in the drums. Still, it's a great listen.βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβ’ Audio-Technica AT-VMN95ML Microlinear Stylusβ’ Audio-Technica ATLP1240USBXP Turntableβ’ Marantz PM8006 Integrated Amplifierβ’ DCM Time Frame TF-275 Floor Speakers
Best quadraphonic album ever! Completely unlike Woman of the World.
Honestly, this is one of the best sounding records I've ever heard. I typically think remasters don't quite hit the mark. But this version is absolutely amazing, it's a must-have for sure.
