I must say, I initially believed "SuperTrios" was McCoy's finest creation. If you're a fan of high-energy, technically impressive solo piano performances that bend your ears, THIS one's tough to surpass. It's an outstanding tribute to John Coltrane by his longtime partner in crime. "Naima" and "My Favorite Things" are flawless, but "Promise" is where the real enchantment lies; you've got to give it a listen. The energy and inventive harmony are incredibly pleasing all the way through. The recording quality is superb, with a natural piano sound and excellent dynamics. It's a nice, clean pressing with no significant issues—though there's some inner groove distortion on the final track. If you're into Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Keith Jarrett, this is your haven.
An absolutely stunning album. My copy is black where it should be. It's not without a 1974 vinyl crackle, but it's a fantastic listen. This is a strong performance on above-average vinyl. Highly recommend.
