Purchased from 'all your music' on eBay (grand total: £29.00 including shipping from US to UK, brand new and still sealed). Flawless pressing. Sounds and plays absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely recommend!!
This vinyl is impressively quiet, with just a hint of light clicks during the calm sections. The record itself is in flawless condition. Sam's saxophone truly shines here, with a mix of solos that range from soft to loud. Whatever he's playing sounds fantastic on my speakers. The drums are brilliantly captured, with full cymbal resonance. The piano has that classic van Gelder sound and is well-centered. The drums and brass instruments are positioned perfectly on the left and right channels. The bass could use a bit more detail, but it's definitely present. Overall, it's a fantastic record. Cartridge used: AT150Sa
Purchased this in its sealed condition. The pressing quality is quite poor. It's covered in marks, blemishes, and the sleeve has noticeable scuffs. There are four spots with awful clicks and pops. You can see small scratches on the vinyl that sound dreadful. There's a constant stream of pops and crackles throughout the record.
It seems folks haven't caught on to this gem yet. Officially, it's known as a repress since there were initial pressings with NY USA labels, but they weren't actually from Plastylite. This album dropped during the shift to Liberty and sports the Van Gelder stamp, complete with that iconic Van Gelder sound. Snag this version if you come across it, as sooner or later, everyone will see it's basically on par with the NY USA release.
Incredible audio! Perfectly balanced and smooth. Massive range. Thick, cardboard-like sound, just like other Tone Poet series releases.
