Side one runs over 30 minutes, and I'm struggling to play it at a decent volume without pushing my system to its limits. The pressing quality isn't impressive to my ears, and there's a noticeable amount of crackle and pop, even after cleaning with a VPI Typhoon RCM. Despite all that, when you can hear the music, it's absolutely incredible.
Utter rubbish! Neither this one nor the Scofield A go go should've seen the light of day. The volume's so low, it's unenjoyable, and even when you max it out, it's just bloated and lacks all the details. I'm fortunate to have both original pressings and was excited to compare them with these reissues. Verve, the mastering engineer, and TMR really messed up here, a total insult to customers. They should recall these, refund our money, and properly remaster and repress them. A complete do-over is needed. Unfortunately, I can't unhear this, and these are among the worst-sounding vinyl records I own. Steer clear!
My record's volume is really low - like, not in a good way... I had to turn up my stereo just to catch it. Has anyone else had this issue?
This lacquer cut is WAY too hushed and the record is PACKED with crackles and skips. It's a mystery how this slipped past quality control.
This vinyl's tracks are absolutely amazing, but it's a real bummer that this re-release is mastered so poorly. I'd steer clear of buying it. The volume is so low that to actually hear it, you've got to crank your amp up to at least 60%. Doing that just boosts the background hiss so much that it's a real pain to listen to. I sent it straight back to the seller. Now I'm happy just streaming it on Qbuz, which sounds really good.
