Mine's got a bit of surface hiss but man, what an amazing pressing, the mastering's just stunning
The sound quality of my records is good, but they were quite dusty. It's alright though - the only problem I faced was with the labels on the records. It's almost impossible to distinguish between the sides. I ended up labeling them myself using stickers. This is truly a fantastic album!
The packaging is quite nice, they've clearly put more work into this than PD. But the sound quality is really poor. There's a lot of crackling, especially on quiet tracks, which is really noticeable in most of Waco, Texas, even though there are no visible scratches or damages on my copy. Janie and Waco, Texas are just painful to listen to.
I recieved a replacement from Amazon. The first disk was much less warped, but the second one was still bad. Luckily, the second disk from my original order was in pretty good shape, so combining both I ended up with a set that I could listen to. The audio quality of this album is better than streaming. After a few more listens, I'll have a more solid opinion. I've already played it all the way through a few times. The sound is fantastic. The LAST treatment really did a great job of removing the surface noise. This is one of the best albums I've bought in the past five years. It's a completely immersive experience.
Mastering seems a bit squished, but it's still clear and doesn't sound warped or harsh. I'm not sure if my copy's off, but sides C/D definitely hit better, sounding more even and less squished than A/B. All in all, a great pressing!
