I'm about halfway into Blue Room... it's absolutely incredible! You've got to hear this one on vinyl. The pressing is fantastic.
I first encountered The Orb through the edited version of "Blue Room" on MTV PartyZone. I was drawn to the track's chill vibe and the enchanting female voice, which reminded me of a mermaid's song. When I found this CD at my local library, I was in for a surprise. The track was much longer and more spacious, with barely any beat—completely different from what I had expected. It took me a few years to truly appreciate this album, but that's how lasting connections with music are often formed. I still enjoy the entire journey and find "Majestic" to be a perfect closer. I've played this album countless times in my life, and I hope it continues to bring me joy in the future!
This so-called "remaster" of this legendary album is an absolute travesty. Just take a listen to the start of O.O.B.E. on an original CD and you'll hear the difference instantly. No finesse, they've just cranked up the volume from the get-go, none of that beautiful, gradual swell of sound that makes the track so special. The second disc is just as disappointing overall. The track 2.2 was also released on Ambient Senses (The Vision), but the version on this god-awful "remaster-disaster" was clearly ripped from a vinyl record (and not a great one at that). They should've just taken it from the aforementioned compilation. Some complete morons were behind this edition. Not for true Orb fans...unless they're into mp3s.
This is an authentic Orb masterpiece, a timeless gem that's been beautifully re-released.
My copy sounds fantastic, even though I don't own an original pressing to make a comparison. I haven't experienced any pops or clicks that others have mentioned. I do wish it included the bonus "Patterns & Textures" 12" from the original release, but apart from that (and the need to replace these printed inner sleeves with better protective ones), I have no complaints about this repress. I'm thrilled to have this masterpiece on vinyl.
