I gotta agree with what's been said before: this might just be the worst sounding mofi record ever made.
Progress and setback in one. Compared to the MOV, this one's noticeably louder, but it's not more dynamic. It's got a bit more bass and the soundstage feels wider, but it's not as clear or clean as the MOV. There's always been some harshness in this recording, and it seems like MoFi tried to fix it but ended up with a bit of a muddy sound. Overall, I think the MOV is the better listen. This could've been so much better, and I feel like MoFi missed a chance to present this recording in its best light, even though the original isn't exactly pristine. Funny enough, it's recorded way worse than her true classic 'Jagged Little', which would be awesome as a double 45 (come on MoFi, make it happen!!!) EDIT: OH MY GOSH.... MoFi ARE doing a double 45 1 Step.....omg omg omg!
The poly lined sleeves they use make the vinyl shift around, leading to seam splits 👎🏻, so watch out
I might be one of the few, but I'm really digging this more than any previous release. The separation in the mix is incredible - it's like experiencing a live performance with everything crystal clear. In my opinion, this is a huge success.
Sides 1, 3 & 4 are fantastic, no problems at all, but side 2 has terrible crackles that are just not acceptable. I'm baffled as to how, in today's world, factories can release products like this. We're paying for something brand new that sounds like a used record. It's infuriating! But, to be fair, the sound quality itself is excellent.
