The audio quality on this fantastic Ozrics record is top-notch, much like what you'd typically find from K Scope, known for their great sound. Ranking Ozrics albums based on the music feels unnecessary to me; they're always outstanding if you're in the right mindset. A quick mention about the breathtaking lacquered cover artwork: you've got to see it in person to truly grasp its beauty.
For countless years, I've been immersed in the music of Ozric Tentacles. My initial encounter with their 1994 album Arborescence happened while I was browsing through used CDs at a physical record store. Upon hearing "There’s A Planet Here" through the headphones, I was so captivated that I went out and bought a CD player that very day. Ozric Tentacles had that profound impact on me, transporting me to a new musical dimension with their psychedelic guitars, bubbling synths, and massive bass lines—reminding me of Steve Hillage's solo work, Gong, and a hint of Hawkwind. Yet, Ozrics carved out their own unique, trippy identity. No one else sounded quite like them. I've collected every CD they've released, and now, in 2020, I'm enjoying Space For The Earth. Clocking in at around 47 minutes, this album features Ed Wynne, Silas Neptune, and Balázs Szende crafting those signature psychedelic grooves. The official notes mention special guest appearances from former members Joie Hinton, Nick Van Gelder, Champignon, and Paul Hankin, along with additional synth layers by Gracerooms. So, is it worth streaming, downloading, or even purchasing? Absolutely, if you're an Ozric Tentacles fan. It's a must-have, continuing their stellar legacy. I've been listening to it all day, and my only gripe is that I wish it were 70 minutes long. You can never have enough of such brilliant compositions. Standout tracks include the energetic "Popscape" and the guitar-heavy "Harmonic Steps," but the other five tracks are equally impressive. Kudos to Ed Wynne for decades of outstanding music! Highly recommended for those seeking trance grooves. ~ John W. Patterson of EER-Music.com and JazzRock-Radio.com
Mind-bending psychedelic instrumental space rock that'll take you on a trip. The spacey synth effects are just right, not overdone, and fit perfectly without being a distraction. It's like rediscovering a sound I adored in a past life.
