Fantastic sounding record. Definitely worth it. Words word word w w
This version is absolutely amazing! The audio quality is crystal clear with zero hiss and an ideal mix of bass, midrange, and treble.
The vinyl version has a decent sound, with minimal surface noise or pops/cracks, but it's not a top-tier pressing. It might've worked better as a single vinyl release or even been cut at 45 RPM. Sky Blue Sky's production is arguably the weakest in Wilco's discographyβit lacks dynamics, sounds squashed, and, particularly on Jeff's vocals, comes across as quite abrasive. While the vinyl does outperform the CD version, it still can't hold a candle to 'Ghost..' or 'YHF'.
A mate of mine suggested this band and their album, knowing my love for top-notch music and that it's his all-time favorite. He's so confident in this album, he even gifted me an iTunes version. But as soon as I reached the second track, I knew I had to have the vinyl. The vinyl itself is stunning, glossy, and flat as a sheet of paper. The surface noise is barely there. First off, this vinyl version completely outshines the iTunes one. The sound is so rich and immersive, you can feel it the instant the band starts playing. The instruments are perfectly separated, enhancing the depth and atmosphere of the album. In fact, this pressing offers a wider soundstage than the iTunes version, making everything sound more natural in your space. The music truly shines through your speakers, and I'm loving it. Every instrument sounds incredible, especially the keyboards. We've got to thank Bob Ludwig, the mastermind behind this mastering. If you've ever heard Beckβs Morning Phase on vinyl, it's like that.
The audio quality is amazing. It's super quiet, the mix is spot on, I'd definitely suggest it! Nels Cline's guitar shines and sounds crisp. Plus, it's likely my top Wilco album.
