With his 6th album, Mike Oldfield shifts from lengthy tracks to shorter, more market-friendly pieces, yet retains much of his signature style. While some songs lean towards a rock edge rather than folk, there's still a wealth of charming compositions to enjoy. The collaboration with Maggie Reilly hints at the commercial success he'll achieve in the 80s with his subsequent album. Unlike some of his earlier works, the recording quality here is exceptional.
The sound quality of my version is superb, even when put next to the original UK or Japan releases. I wholeheartedly endorse it.
This album is absolutely stunning. I just purchased my first vinyl copy of this classic album, which is now 42 years old, and it's flawless. There's barely any background hiss at all. The bass is punchy and the highs are crisp. It seems like Mike Oldfield's popularity has waned a bit, considering how affordable his records are these days. I'm a fan of the album artwork and the little 'porthole' detail. Nice touch. Definitely a great version to add to your collection.
