I've given it a few listens, it's alright but nothing really stands out to me. I'm aware that many folks are huge fans of Arcade Fire, but I just don't get what makes them so special. The album is just alright.
Press quality is unmatched, this is my finest recording yet. It's akin to a Beethoven masterpiece.
Every Arcade Fire album takes me some time to truly appreciate and enjoy, and I've found that they sound best when played a bit louder than my usual volume. I've given this one several spins, and it's quite pleasant. The pressing quality is above average; the records are nearly flat, play cleanly, and without any distortion. The sound is robust, but it can seem dull at low volumes. You've got to crank it up to the right level, and then it's absolutely worth it. The cover art is also quite good. I'd recommend giving it a listen. Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
Alright, so the upside here is that the music quality on this pressing is pretty solid. But here's the kicker: the record has a crazy amount of surface noise that just wouldn't quit, even after I ran it through my ultrasonic cleaner a bunch of times. Stuff like this is exactly why folks are skeptical about GZ-pressed records. It's not too noticeable when the music's blasting, but during the quieter moments and between tracks, it's downright brutal.
I was obsessed with this album for a good year, and now I'm kinda over it, but 'ocean of noise' is one of the most powerful tracks I've ever listened to. Still love it
