I was thrilled to stumble upon a pristine, never-played copy of this album for just ten bucks. This record showcases Fleetwood Mac's middle era, sandwiched between Peter Green's departure and the arrival of Buckingham and Nicks. It might not be their most captivating work from a songwriting standpoint, but the band's unique charm shines through. The audio quality is superb, with a well-crafted mix. There's a slight stereo effect or perhaps a minor phase issue between channels, I can't quite tell. The male vocals could be more prominent for my taste, but Christine's are spot on. Interestingly, Martin Birch from Iron Maiden lends his acoustic guitar skills here, quite a random fact. Standout tracks for me are "Somebody", "For Your Love", and "Hypnotized". While it's my least favorite Mac album, it's still an enjoyable listen. The sound quality is excellent. If you come across a clean copy, don't hesitate to pick it up.
Before Stevie and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac, this album is pretty alright but it's clear it's lacking that special something that Buckingham and Nicks will bring in a couple of years. The record's sound quality is good, except for a few tracks where I notice a strange distortion coming from the kick drum. It kind of sounds like a groove scratch on the kick beats. It's not on every song but I definitely caught it on A1 and A6. Has anyone else noticed this on their copy?
Carry on Listening.. maybe the initial disco track, with a bit of latin guitar mixed in. Fantastic overall album. The pressing is crisp too.
I might be one of the few who believe this is Mac's top collection and my personal favorite album. I was thrilled to see this fantastic album reissued. The bass could use a slight boost, even with two 10' Klipsch subs at regular volume. Apart from that, it's a superb pressing, with a crisp sound. The blue translucent vinyl is gorgeous and remarkably quiet between tracks. The gatefold cover is a bit on the flimsy side but, let's face it, what can you expect for a $24 non AAA release. I'd wager it's closer to 150 grams than 180, but regardless, it's a stunning album and a must-own for any Mac enthusiast.
Fantastic quality! Excellent dynamics, clarity, mid-range punch, crisp highs, and powerful lows.
