The album's title was written in Japanese (on the obi strip), and 離婚伝説 actually translates to 'Legendary Divorce'—can't stop laughing about it!
Oh man, this album is like the ultimate "divorced dad soundtrack" LOL... yet it's one of the most incredible albums ever made. Plus, one of the songs from it ("Is That Enough") was later used in one of the best Southern hip-hop tracks ever ("Sippin' on Da Syrup" by Three 6 Mafia & UGK).
This vinyl release truly showcases the incredible impact that vinyl can have. I've always been a fan of this album, and the original Tamla pressing is quite good. But this is something else entirely. The subtleties and layers of the music pull you in and hold your attention, adding a richness that's just amazing. It's easily in my top three records. If you're at all interested in this album, you've got to grab this version.
Here, My Dear stands as the fifteenth studio album from the talented Marvin Gaye, dropping on December 15, 1978, under the Tamla Records label, a Motown offshoot.[2] The recording process for this album unfolded between 1977 and 1978 at Gaye's private Marvin Gaye Studios in Los Angeles, California. This album made waves due to its focus on the aftermath of Gaye's marriage to his first wife, Anna Gordy Gaye. Initially, it didn't quite hit the mark commercially or with critics, but in the years after Gaye's passing, it's been celebrated by music critics as one of his most masterfully produced works.
I gotta say, this listening press is fantastic! I'd definitely suggest picking up this vinyl, it's a classic Marvin album, no doubt about it!
