Amazing album! The track order is spot on, the pressing is top-notch and flat with an excellent soundstage. Super quiet, really makes the beats & vocals stand out. Comes with a awful white paper inner sleeve that sheds paper bits all over the record. Chuck it and use a proper inner sleeve instead.
This is an outstanding release, I must say. I bought it as a Stones Throw enthusiast, not a die-hard fan, but I genuinely appreciate the music the label has put out so far. My main musical interests lie elsewhere, so I can't claim to be a Stones Throw expert. However, this release caught my eye, and I was thrilled when I got it home. While Madvillain can be a bit chilly and dark for my taste, Four Tet brings a warmer vibe by emphasizing the beats over the vocals. The instrumentals are fantastic, but the real highlight is the A-side with the remixes. Stones Throw consistently delivers top-notch quality, pushing boundaries that other hip-hop labels just can't match. I hate to sound cliché, but it's the truth. This release has deepened my appreciation for Stones Throw and has me exploring more of Four Tet's work.
