This is a well-made pressing. There's hardly any surface noise, no noticeable distortion, and no flaws. Sure, it could always sound better, but for a standard reissue, it's pretty good. Just be gentle with the sleeve, as you might catch one of the cut-out letters on something.
In my opinion, this is the finest ET sound I've ever encountered. Paul Hicks and his team have managed to strip away a layer from the music, making it more transparent than the original. The Bernie Grundman pressing further enhances the sound quality. If you're missing a copy or, like me, in need of a replacement, this version is definitely worth considering.
Alright, I'm gonna go ahead and say this is my 2nd favorite Harrison solo album. Now, don't everyone start freaking out and attacking me, let me explain why. Even though there aren't any massive, classic singles, I genuinely enjoy every track on here. It's a really pleasant listen. After "Dark Horse" and its rough vocals, plus that disastrous tour that followed, I think George felt the need to take a step back from the preaching, which was a bit hypocritical, and just make some songs. To my ears, he really tried to sing well on this one, and he did. "You" was the single from this album, and I think it's better than people give it credit for. Now, people might say there aren't any standout tracks here, but you know what? There aren't any bad ones either. If you look at every album he put out between "All Things Must Pass" and this one, each one has like two great songs and a bunch of forgettable stuff, but this one is pleasant and solid from start to finish. In fact, if I'm not playing "All Things Must Pass" or that early takes album, I'm probably playing this one. So say what you want, but I love this album, and for me, it's the last great one he made.
George Harrison's most overlooked album ever! I once had the long box set, really wish I hadn't sold it.
