After a few spins, I must say - this record sounds incredible! My copy of "Superunknown" has highs that are a bit too much, but "Upside" is a whole different ball game. It's really well-balanced and full of life. You can really tell the difference in quality when you go from a wild track like "Ty Cobb" to something more laid-back like "Blow Up The Outside World." Like others have mentioned, my copy didn't come with a hype sticker or DL card (I was more disappointed about the missing sticker, honestly) but it has the same matrix numbers. There's a 2016 date on the back cover, so I'm guessing they used the same stampers but skipped the sticker and card. I picked this up sealed for a little over $30 with free shipping on eBay from Europe, so I can't complain. Really happy with my purchase - grab this one if you come across it.
I've got a 2016 version with a yellow label. I mentioned before that the audio on it was a bit muddy. I wasn't too fond of the sound, to the point where I considered selling my copy. But lately, I've upgraded my setup. Out of curiosity, I gave my least favorite records another listen. Not everything sounded better, but this one did. I'm genuinely enjoying the sound now. I'd say I've rediscovered the album, as I hadn't listened to it in ages.
I got this as a make-up for Ticketmaster overbooking the Houston venue during the tour - I was turned away at the entrance despite having my ticket - first and only time that's ever happened to me - I've still got my promotional copy, though I'd have much preferred attending the concert - the bright side is, it's got awesome sound quality.
Clearly a step up from the CD version, though it doesn't quite match the finest rock vinyl pressings out there. If you're a fan of this album, you've got to experience it on vinyl. A shame it's Soundgarden's final '90s release, though.
Wow, this album is incredible! It's my second fav Soundgarden record and definitely worth getting.
