The sound quality is outstanding, offering a lively audio experience. This specific release features a crisp, warm, and silent playback, with impeccably balanced highs, bass, and mid-range tones. Although a tad more volume might be nice, the overall audio journey makes up for this small detail. A definite must-have if you can't get your hands on the original.
A tad loud: some hiss, random crackle & pop. Awesome music, though mixed a bit "dark". Calm, as one note, and a hint muddy, mainly during the bass solo on B1 “La Palomeinding”. Might just be the recording though.
I concur with the prior remarks regarding the quiet mastering. The benefit is that, particularly for clear vinyl, the pressing is completely silent. I, for one, didn't detect it being “dark” or “muddy” beyond the usual van gelder “sound.” Excellent definition of cymbals and hi-hats. Nice, full-bodied snare sound. Definitely not a bad opportunity to get a great record that would be hard to find in good condition otherwise unless you're loaded. I'm usually not into reissues.
