Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
This album is identical to his 1961 first release, At The Rock House, except it's missing a track, the songs are arranged differently, and the cover art is not the same.
One day folks will realize these Wax Time vinyl releases are seriously impressive... sure, they MAY just be CDs pressed on vinyl, but they're executed brilliantly with DMM, and the vinyl is exceptionally flat and quiet... plus, they're still incredibly affordable... go ahead and drop a small fortune on some supposed analog audiophile pressing... Michael Fremer will be grateful! I've got a pile of jazz vinyl from Wax Time, costing half to a third of the price of those newer, fancy limited editions... most of these Wax Time records at least match them in terms of quiet vinyl... there's nothing worse than shelling out fifty bucks or more for some audiophile release, only to have to run it through a wet vacuum cleaning system multiple times before it'll play... just to find out that fancy new pressing is pretty much a CD on vinyl anyway, despite whatever marketing hype they used to lure you in...
Even though the cover says 'STEREO', every track is actually in mono.
I'm not entirely certain if this album came before "Lonely And Blue," but it probably hit the shelves to ride the wave of success from "Only The Lonely" and "Blue Angel," both of which were released prior to this album. Fun fact: "Rock House" was penned by Conway Twitty, born Harold Lloyd Jenkins. "You're My Baby" was a Johnny Cash creation. Apart from the two albums dedicated to Don Gibson and Hank Williams, this is the sole album that doesn't feature any Roy Orbison compositions.
